Guess who I just found "lurking" on this forum Saturday April 6th?

Does the blushing bride know?
What is he up to?
Did he take a laptop on his honeymoon

All these questions & more will be revealed in due course - I have no doubt :p

This is what gave him away.

Thanks Alan,

yeah got back yesterday and have been busily reading through 1500+ email

The wedding and honeymoon was great. I'll post some photos of the wedding car soon. I ended up not using the ID19 at the last minute as I had trouble getting it registered. ie: I'd forgotten that I need to get a form from the car club to autorising it for club use (like Dad had for the light 15). So even though I have the certificate to say it's fit for club rego I couldn't get it at the last minute  :( Didn't want to risk a $500 fine the day of my wedding....

New Zealand was great, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Bugger it, I'll just cut 'n' paste the mail I sent to the Dseries-L list here, that'll save me typing it again.

Hi all,

well I'm back from New Zealand. What a great place, the scenery must be
seen to be believed. We had a little rental Holden Barina, I was really
impressed with the little car at 1st, driving it through the mountains was
great fun. Keeping the little motor spinning somewhere between 5-7000rpm
had the little car flying round the corners like a go-kart, infact I halved
a lot of the estimated times between towns according our map :) Once we
were out of the mountains we realised the little sh!tbox had no suspension,
disgustingly hard seats and no power below 4500rpm. I even commented on how
good the BX was after getting home, yes-- I actualy praised the ride&comfort
of a BX :)

Citroen spotting??? Several C5's & wagans, lots of BX's, AX's & ZX's. A GS
& CX, no D's. A suprising huge number of old Morris 1100's/minors, bloody
things were everywhere. Roger had supplied us with a list of Citroen poeple
to visit of there. We didn't get a chance to meet any of them really, but
got the the Citroen specialist in Christchurch. Here we saw our only 'D'
for our holidays, you wouldn't believe it, the car was Roger's old mustard
coloured Dsuper! Chatted to the owner there for a while and looked around
his BX's and $6900 XM (groan... that's about $3000usd, looked bloody nice
too :-(, why couldn't I buy it...).

Also called into the main Citroen agent there, saw some new C5's and Xsaras
(yaaawwwwnnn.....), some Xantias, and the Xsara Picasso. Actually I really
liked the Xsara Picasso, I'd never seen one before (except in pictures).

Without doubt the highlight of the trip was the trip on 'TSS Earnslaw'. An
old steam boat. We cruised across a lake to a farmhouse where we had a 4
course meal. It's not 'just' a steam boat, I spent most of the time looking
through it, launched the same day as the Titanic. It's still all original
except they have enclosed the passenger deck. We were free to wander pretty
much anywhere on the ship including the engine room. Your free to enter the
and watch the original twin 3cylinder triple expansion double acting, jet
condensing steam engines in operation (what a mouthful, you wouldn't guess
it but I've the pamphet on the boat, and have been reading and trying to
understand how the motors work). The two people feeding the boilers were
kept very busy shovling coal into them during the trip. What an amazing old
boat!

Anybody going to New Zealand that's interested in anything old I would
highly recommend this cruise to.

I'll post some wedding photos of the Legere soon. I had problems with
getting the registration forms for the ID19, so at the last minute we
decided not to use it. I didn't want to risk a $500 fine the day of our
wedding by driving it. I'd driven it down to my parents, it was hard to
start 1st thing in the morning so I popped the bonnet. There was no fuel in
the fuel line, I primed it with the manual pump, turned the motor over from
the relay under the bonnet. The ID just wouldn't start, it started to smell
flooded. Dads come wondering out and jumped into the car. I was starting
to get a 'little' frustrated ash the car usualy starts 1st kick everytime.
Dad jumps in the car and yells out to let him have a go. He hits the
starter from inside the car and it starts 1st kick, he yells out from inside
the car "It really helps when you turn the ignition on.....".

back to my 1500+ mails :)

seeya,
Shane L.
