***** SPOILER ALERT *****
.
.
.
I won't post the details yet, but in last night's GP was probably the most significant accident we have seen in the last 10 years. Significant because it is a demonstration of the new safety features working, especially the Halo, now recognised as a major factor in saving the life of a driver.
Many factors, including that he wasn't knocked unconscious in the crash, so he could extricate himself from the cockpit, helped in his survival.
In fact he apparently has only suffered relatively minor injuries.
I shall save the details, watch it yourself, happens early in the race.
.
Tip - red flag period lasts about 1 hour.
.
I don't know the results because I nodded off at lap 20. Will catch up today.

Yep after that incident last night im confident the FIA can introduce a new F1 destruction derby dirt oval class based on the current cars.

If you want a quick look at the incidents; reddit to the rescue; (spoilers below)

He's a very lucky boy to get out of that one. He looked quite rattled sitting in the medic car as one would expect. There have been many lesser crashes in the past which involved full fuel tanks where things didn't go as well as this one.
