Well, i'd like to suggest an interesting solution from the brain rather than from the heart. How about a Toyota Cressida? Reliable, powerful (142kW), rear wheel drive, and luxurious? approve

Don't worry froggers, only reVVing you up eek! eek! :D

Go to bed Serge!! clown

I've spent about 5 f#$%^&*g hours today fitting a f#$%^&*g water pump to a F#$%^&d / Madzda and I'm still nowhere near finished!
The pump cost me three times the price of one for a BX, is taking about 5 times as long to fit it so save me the agony of telling me how reliable Jap crap is and how cheap & easy it is to fix.
Nitey, nitey.

Yes Alan, another one of your facinating personnal experiances. Not all japanese cars are reliable, quite correct, but what YOU have to remember is that not all of them are unreliable either. Mechanic or not you still only see a small sample of the auto market, and its my view you can find any mechanic to give you the opinion you want. For instance our families mechanic is obsessed with toyotas. he loves them, i cannot understand what it is. maybe you should meet him?? dead dead black_ey :D :D

"but what YOU have to remember is that not all of them are unreliable"
Never said they were; I once met a guy who loved Ladas too. I also posted recently about my experiences with a Mazda diesel which was an absolute brilliant motor car, BUT I am open minded enough to realise that as I've said before, not ALL Jap stuff is ultra-reliable and you come across as probably being naive enough to think that it is. And before you say it; not all European stuff is either, in fact possibly one of the biggest lemons I ever saw was many years ago, which was a Mercedes owned by a minister.
As far as the mechanic loving Toyotas goes; you can find that with any brand. Every time he goes to make a deposit at the bank he probably leaps in the air & yells "Oh! What a feeling" :D :D If I was specialising in repairing Toyotas I reckon I would be too.
As I said before, there is a difference between reliability & wearability which a lot of people get confused with. Worthy of thought though is the fact that when the early Jap stuuff came on the market, the prices were above the local stuff yet they outsold them & established a market share which continued to grow for many years. This was based on quality of finish, solid manufacture and reliability. The reputation for reliability took a long time to establish and was worked on by the manufacturers & distributors and did eventually click in. Now; common sense says that anyone who has had a good trouble free spin with a car will go back & buy another one because with the majority of owners they prefer peace of mind and safety etc over the other factors involved in purchase & ownership. That being the case, then why have their sales fallen and to of all things, cheap jack Korean throwaway stuff?
Maybe you should become a Hyundai Imposter?
