The second round of the Australian 500cc Speedway Championships was held in Albury tonight.
The livestream was poor (freezing pics/ dropping out) which was a shame as the track and surrounds looked tremendous, there was a good crowd and the racing was top class, a credit to the Albury Wodonga Motorcycle Club.
Newcastle's Jason Doyle continued on his winning way, taking out the final from Victorian Max Fricke with New South Welshmen Josh Pickering and Brady Kurtz taking out third and fourth.
Fricke was much improved over his Gillman effort, winning all races bar one heat (where he was passed by Kurtz) and the final where Doyle overpowered him.
The Holder brothers, Chris and Jack both made the semis, but finished third and fourth behind Doyle and Fricke and didn't make the final.
Rohan Tungate would be disappointed with his night, finishing third in the other semi with Justin Sedgeman fourth.
After two rounds the overall championship points (according to my unofficial count) are -
Jason Doyle (NSW) - 33
Jack Holder (NSW) - 29
Max Fricke (Vic) - 28
Rohan Tungate (NSW) - 24
Justin Sedgeman (Vic) - 22
Chris Holder (NSW) - 21
Brady Kurtz (NSW) - 21
Josh Pickering (NSW) - 20
Leading Queenslander is Zane Keleher on 8 points.
The next round is at Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Valley on Monday night (9th). I am not aware of any livestream of the event but in the past there have been issues livestreaming a good signal from there.
