I recently bought a 2011 Peugeot 3008, which I really like. I wish, however, it had a more up to date display unit with Apple CarPlay that does not compromise the steering wheel controls or computer functions.

I have always received good advice in this forum. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can upgrade?

Option one. Hi to your local car radio specialist and get an upgrade. I think JB HiFi do this as well? Could be expensive.
Option two. If are more DIY, go online to AliExpress and search your car model and multimedia. You'll get lots of options. I went down this path with my 206. Fairly happy with the choice and fit.

Please avoid any chain full of 16 year olds with boxes full of scotch locks and visit a reputable car audio store. Also avoid anything from eBay, these units don’t last.

Does your car have factory sat nav

Does your car have factory sat nav
Out of curiosity, what difference would having factory satnav make to the ability to update the display and audio system?

And then, maybe, given that I still don’t have the audio system in my 307 working, is that update something that could be done to the 307?

(307 audio system is not working yet because my friend with the oscilloscope is too busy. And I think he’s forgotten about it.)

The flip up nav screens can have a moment if the radio is removed like random up and downs and on 3008 the heads up will do the same.
What’s the 307 doing is it a late one

I don’t want to hijack this thread!

It’s the same problem as it has been since the car battery was replaced in August or so last year. I can’t access the menu system.

DiagBox doesn’t let me in the menu settings. I’m almost convinced that it’s because the audio system doesn’t turn on. I’m sure the two are related.

Here, AlexB said that he had a similar problem with a Blaupunkt RD4 and he had diagnosed the problem with the help of an oscilloscope. He said that the problem was a stuck key, I think, caused by corrosion on the PCB.

Yes, a late model 307. 2007, to be exact.

Enough of me hijacking this thread! If we’re going to continue this conversation, it’s best to continue it on my thread, I think.

My 3008 does not have factory sat nav, so removing the radio may not cause other issues.

Is there any way to upgrade to a more up to date display unit with Apple CarPlay that does not compromise the steering wheel controls or computer functions?

"my friend with the oscilloscope is too busy. And I think he’s forgotten about it.)"
Somewhat off topic for the thread, but on the subject of scopes I recently purchased one to troubleshoot an ignition issue with a motorcycle. Less than $60 for a storage scope with "real-time sampling rate of 40MSa/s, a bandwidth of 18MHz, 500Khz signal generator frequency."

Mine is a DSO154pro, but there are several models at similar prices, each with their pros and cons. These cheap scopes are not high quality test equipment, but adequate for basic troublsehooting.

Just thought I'd mention it in passing.

Thanks for the info about the 'scope you purchased. And the availability of cheap 'scopes generally. I had no idea such things existed. The last 'scope I took notice of was quite a while ago, and it was priced in the thousands of dollars.

However, with all that said, even if I had a 'scope, I could probably plug it in, attach the leads, and maybe even turn it on. But my abilities would certainly end there!

Edit: Fix spelling. Why does this forum software not have a spell checker?

Usually your browser has the spell checker, not the website.
I use Firefox and it checks my posts. Generally it tries to get me to do US spellings, even though I have it set to Australian English... ;)

My experience with other forums is that they provide the spellcheck. I have Grammarly turned on as well as the default spellcheck in Safari for iOS or Mac and this forum software seems to take over all of them.

By default, Safari capitalises certain words, like proper nouns, but others as well. On Aussiefrogs, I usually have to manually check and change them. On other forums, I don’t have to do that. There’s something about this forum software, or maybe a setting, that is not working the way that I have experienced on other sites.

Interesting. Maybe that's why I'm getting prompted for US spellings when my browser is set to Aussie English???

hi,
I have 2006 C2 VTS. Siemens audio I think. Do aftermarket units plug and play,or do you need to ask Lexia nicely? I cannot see a reason why wouldn't just plug and play. I am after at least bluetooth capable ,GPS would be nice.
One the standard unit can purchase bluetooth modules which plug into CD changer circuit. Do these need to be enabled as ATM source only has two choices,no AUX. I believe they need Lexia, from reading other forums, but weren't referring to my particular model.Has anybody got experience with these things? Finally cd changer plug is not blue mini iso but 12 pin(2x6) do these plugs have a standard name-like iso,din etc?

This link shows the same design as mine ,but doesn't seem to have the 12 pin jobby I'm talking about.
Any recommendations suggestions welcome and appreciated.
Thank you MM

Simca, spellcheck is a browser function, and it is working for me on Vivaldi. For example "Harbor" is red squiggly underlined as I type here.
