Hi all, when opening up the front black cover to inspect the valve body, is there meant to be oil in this front compartment of the transmission? Or is it meant to be completely dry?

I wonder whether I have an oil leak causing low oil pressure leading to shifting issues, and it would be evident from the oil sitting in the front section of the transmission.

Or am I mistaken that when full, the transmission houses a lot of oil there?

Thanks!

Did you check the fluid level via the inbuilt weir with the engine running and oil hot? A quick drive around the block will be about enough. When switched off, the oil drains back to the pan. You are meant to add 3.5Lt after draining and add from the extra 0.5lt until it starts to overflow.
I think in your other thread, I gave you a diagram with torques for the valve block bolts.
