My car got hit on monday by a kangaroo, It hit the windscreen and the roof. I have some pics but don't know how to display them with this message? Can anyone help with this and the name of a good wrecker. I am in country NSW and don't know of any pug wreckers. I need a LH mirror, LH windscreen wiper, interior mirror and a the interior front door light.

To display the pictures you need to upload them to your website, and then use the following code:

Looks like you need a lot more than mirrors and wipers...

I have the parts I think... would have to check. If they're the same as a GR I would have them, however. And I'm through Moree in a week or so...

Ouch!

As you have a Series II 505 it might be hard tracking down an (electric?) side mirror.

You could always swap both sides over to a manual mirror off a series I.

I can probably help you out with the major parts, though The only LH Mirror I have is on the SRBT now. I have a Silver Slate SRDT parts car in the garden, let me know if you need anything else.

It happended close to home. It is not insured though. Took it to town today after spending half of yesterday getting the glass out of the car. Getting quotes from panel beaters. The roof is damaged very serverly. The rubber surround for the screen seems ok, although the locking strip is broken. The front LH guard is also smashed in. Depending upon the cost it may be better to panel beat it out? The bonnet is also dented, although it can be fixed. The car is a 1987 series 2 GTD. The other things broken are the LH mirror which is a manual stalk one. The LH wiper arm, the blade was torn off and landed in my lap. I was the passenger at the time. The 3 position interor light is also broken where it mounts to the roof and the rear view mirror. We were very lucky, the driver and I both had minor lacirations and glass in our mouths. We both must have been swearing at the time eek! The glass exploded throughout the car, we both had sunglasses on otherwise we would have had glass in our eyes. Everything was covered in fine slivers of glass and glass dust, even the parcel tray behing the rear seats was covered. Ray if you could advise me of the price of those parts it would be greatly appreciated my email is sattwood@northnet.com.au Thanks scott

How fast were you going when the car hit the roo?
Just interested because that question has risen on the forum in posts from time to time...ie: what damage can a roo do at a given speed.

cheers!

We were doing 100km/hr when we hit it, maybe a touch more. We didn't have a chance to do anything. The driver didn't even get his foot on the brake before impact. The roo was a very big one. There was thick scrub right up to the edge of the road, and the roo was travelling very fast. Because I didn't see it till we had just about hit it, and after impact it cleared the roof and the boot and just left a mark down the rh rear quarter panel. No doubt if we had hit it doing less speed, the roof and screen damage wouldn't have been as bad. Although he probably would have landed on the roof and boot. I believe the strength of the car saved us from more serious injury. If anyone has the parts avaliable that I need could you please email me at sattwood@northnet.com.au
Thankyou Scott

Let me know if Ray can't help, Scott. I should have most / all of what you are after for a series II (from an 87 sLi wagon). My email is in my profile or on my web site.

Cheers

.....You were lucky you weren't killed.
More than true enough...

They make a mighty mess when they get in through the windscreen!

By the way, the stuff I have is all from an earlier model, 82 or so. If you go with Rod's offer you'll probably be better off.

But if you find the cost of de-kinking the roof is too much, give me a call about the rust free body I have at Parkes.

It's virtually a complete car, actually, but I want to retain the engine and box. With your trim, mechanicals and so on, and with a paint job, you'd have a stack of stuff left over to flog off.

or just cut the roof off each car and put the good roof on the GTD :D

Geez the roos in NSW must be bloody huge!

Nice looking car apart from the roo damage. Good enough to be worth repairing I'd say. You'll need a skilled panel beater to sort out that roof though.
