G'day Folks.

Anyone know from experience how The recessed Panel which the rear number plate rivets to (between tail lights) on the 504 can be removed?

Their doesn't appear to be any spot welds. It looks to be glued in and located by the mount for the boot latch.

Any clues? What solvents or release agents get the part off? Apart from the angle grinder and hammer!

Isn't it a whole back body panel?

Why do u want to remove it? Rust?

i thought they were spot welded in
they do rust around where the chrome strip is around the edge of the recess
without going down into the backyard with a torch and having a look at one down there i can't help you much more at the moment
but i thought they were spot welded in
they aren't part of the rear panel

We've had a look... it must be spot-welded. Has to be...

So if you scrape around the inside of the panel, on the lip where it's joined, you should find signs of the spot welding.

Drill through them and you should get it off fine...
