Alongside my Peugeot collection I've ended up with quite a few Renault pictures. If there's any interest I'll post some of the 4CV pics but let me know if they've already been posted elsewhere.

Hello Russell,

Thanks very much for these.

Some probably have been posted but not all. Please proceed! We might ask for some at higher resolution - can get 500 Kb or so to upload these days.

Cheers

Hi Russell :)
Thanks for those. That police car, 5th picture is interesting, as the doors have been cut down on the passenger side to enable some interaction outside, including using the spotlight(or possibly firing guns at fleeing bank robbers). There seems to be a bar to support the center pillar functions(like holding the doors ?).
Jaahn

Jaahn, that's a 4CV PIE, a special range made for the Paris police and, if I recall, Monaco. Radio telephone, big back window and various mods like the cut down doors.

continuing on.....

So that Gendarmerie vehicle is a 2-door yes..? Good luck trying to get a drunk and out of control Gerard Depardieu
into the backseat for a trip down-town.

Perhaps the cops get in the back and the drunk drives.

Or the drunks get transported in "drunks van", easier to hose out the spew afterwards

and on........

The first photo looks staged but the 4CV had all the fruit, rag top, white-wall tyres on chrome rims, radio.

Near the end of the 4CV, will put up random Renault pics next. Is the Redex car C. Taylor in 1953?

I'm pretty sure it is #50 from the 1954 event, Bell and Fitzsimmons in an R1060, retired in Mackay. I have a better version of that photo and you can see the number on the front door. Taylor's 1953 car was #49.
Thanks for all these photos.
I'd have to say running a heavily loaded 4CV in a REDeX Trial was optimistic! One did finish in 1953, being the only "light car" to complete the event. No others finished a Round Australia event although one won its class in a State-based REDeX trial.
