That police car, 5th picture is interesting, as the doors have been cut down on the passenger side to enable some interaction outside, including using the spotlight(or possibly firing guns at fleeing bank robbers). There seems to be a bar to support the center pillar functions(like holding the doors ?).
I'm pretty sure it is #50 from the 1954 event, Bell and Fitzsimmons in an R1060, retired in Mackay. I have a better version of that photo and you can see the number on the front door. Taylor's 1953 car was #49.

I'd have to say running a heavily loaded 4CV in a REDeX Trial was optimistic! One did finish in 1953, being the only "light car" to complete the event. No others finished a Round Australia event although one won its class in a State-based REDeX trial.
