407 with carplay android auto

I have just spent a week driving a Mazda with Android Auto & Carplay. I now want the same is my 2009 407. Is it possible? Has anyone done it? Do we have room for a 2 DIN head unit to replace the std RD4 radio/CD? Would appreciate input from anyone that has attempted this or seen it done elsewhere.

A new headunit is relatively cheap with branded stuff starting at $350 and going up to $1,200.
 
I have posted this link a few times the best option is to get an Android head unit and add a A auto and CarPlay dongle CarPlay can be wireless but android auto cannot I have a similar system in my wife’s 4008 and it works great with wireless CarPlay especially with the latest iOS 13 update.
You need to get one with an external microphone the inbuilt ones are garbage.
I have fitted heaps of these the thing with fitting a standard radio is
A the 407 is only single din
B the facia plate for a single din can be upto 100
C the can interface for your reverse sensors ect and patch harnesses can be over 400
D you lose park sensors etc
If you get one get rid of the standard launcher and replace it with liberta launcher makes things clean and simple

Thanks for the links. Where do I get the single din to double din fascia you mentioned. Don't really care about the reverse sensors. What does the can interface give you? Is it essential? Do you have a link for it?

Yes, a video would be awesome.
 
No sorry I ment you can only get a single din facia and up the top near the screen the depth isn’t enough for a double din unit if you could make it fit.

Have decided not to this. instead I plan to install a 7 inch android tablet. It is much simpler and gives me everything i need.
