406 Coupe Stalling and Fuel Gauge Not Working

Hi

I've just bought a yellow 406 V6 Coupe.

It has developed two problems.

Firstly it stalls at traffic lights. The accelerator cable has slack and the car seems lethargic.

Second, the fuel gauge has stopped working with the low fuel level warning light coming on.

Any suggestions?

Is it an auto trans? If so, presumably it only stalls in drive? If you slip it in to neutral and then go to drive with throttle it doesn't stall? It may be a trans issue. Could be worth first having the fluid replaced but also get it test driven by an auto trans specialist.
