Hi all,

I have an 87 Pug 205 Gti that I am making some minor mods to. I want to make a new induction path for the car as the standard item seems to long and the airbox can heat up to much positioned over the headers.

I have noticed the most restrictive part of the system is the AFM throat.

I have a plan to place the battery in the boot or get a dry cell , smaller battery and make some room behind the h/light.

I would like to know if the 405 AFM is a larger internal diameter than the 205's, is it compatible to the 205 computer system, and an approximate cost if anyone knows.

Thanking all in advance.

Cheers

The Mi16 AFM is also restrictive, but I'm not sure if they're the limiting factor. I run a Haltech on my Mi16, still with AFM fitted, and zero vacuum occurs way before full throttle. This indicates there is more volume there than the engine can use. I haven't seen one fitted, but apparently the GMH V6 throttle body is good fit on a 205. Adding a Haltech (or other MAP sensing computer) would allow you to delete the AFM and give plenty of scope for development.

Peter T,

Hmmmm....cheers for that.

I guess I will just try to get a better air inlet set up for the moment.

Save the Haltech for when the Mi-16 engine goes in the 205
