Hi folks. My engine had a hissing sound for a few months and I didn't think much of it. Just recently I found out there was a leak by the exhaust flange gasket hence the hissing sound. Today I went to the exhaust shop and had a new flange gasket fitted, no more hissing sound, great! Suddenly I have a new exhaust note which I'm not too happy about. Why is this? Could it be the type of gasket used? The gasket I used is original, I got it from a retired Peugeot specialist. One of the reasons I love the 404 so much is because of how it sounds, the change is not dramatic but it's different nevertheless (like an engine with too much air or one using those aftermarket filters). Please advise folks.
