A 1997 gti6 with some head damage that I was daily driving until the starter began to have issues.
It's had numerous parts replaced, most engine sensors and almost every consumable in the front suspension.
The engine has had an encounters with one bad mechanic after another which has caused damage to two of the cam bearings. It also has a tick.
It's been driving around for almost two years since then so it's hard to say what the consequences are. I have attached photos of the bearings.
It has a small exhaust leak somewhere very close to the head.
It's had an accident at some point on the front right. But I've made sure all the suspension geometry is fine.
It also has a small coolant leak from the top of the rad.
One of the bolts from the exhaust heat shield is missing so it rattles a bit.
It has a service history and both keys. It was very well looked after mechanically despite its current condition. After market sunroof has been installed properly with drainage tubes and doesn't leak. The interior is still nice and surprisingly low on rattles. The clear coat started going last year, but it's the best 306 paint colour imo.
Car runs fine with the exception of the starter. Which works about 20% of the time. It's parked on a hill though, so if you're confident in not stalling it you'd be able to get it home pretty easily. It's very easy to push start. AC works.
I understand the value of these cars is in the engine for most people. Hence the low price. If you can find a j4rs head casting, lifters and intake cam from somewhere you could restore it easily.
I don't have the facilities for this so it's for sale.
New parts in the last two years/~10k kilometres:
Comes without radio but with Haynes manual.
Rego expires on the 26th of Jan.
900$ negotiable.
PM for more info.
