Hey guys,
I need more help after my previous post and work on the timing belt.
I notice a petrol smell around the car after the car been driven and has run.
Today i checked the access under the rear seat, and it was full of petrol.
I clean up the excess and start over the car again. Then I can kinda see a very small petrol leak near the fuel line with the green clip on the right hand side.
But so tiny, I can’t even tell if it’s the fuel line or something else.
Did anyone experience that? Any recommendations on what to change first.
Cheers.
Remi

Replace the fuel pump it is leaking at the elbow common as

Haha. Yes it did look like it was leaking around there but not at the line.
Any clue where I can found one quickly?
Thanks a lot.

If it is the 6" type the top is very, very difficult to get on.
Take the tank out and it is easy.
It looks exactly like my one i did last week.

Two different diameters for the locking ring.
Don't trust the VIN like one idiot parts guy did.

Sometimes the customer is right............

Ok, how do you measure this thing?
Mine size about 160+ mm on the outer black ring.
6*inches seems a bit smaller unless it is an other size, like the thread.
Cheers

Yeah mine is a 2004. It like looks like the black ring can be undone and removed from the opening space.

I had this happen on my sons 206 gti 180 we ended up buying some supper glue with powder that you sprinkle on to of the glue
As a tempry fix that was 12 months ago and still no more leaks.

Interesting. I actually thought about the same because the leak seems super minor.
I thought even polyurethane like Sika.
What glue have you used? Do you remember??

Cheers.

Didn't change the tank.
Smaller fuel unit is wired differently.

Without investigating i wonder if the BSI is different as i tried .

This is what we used View attachment 108907
And we still have the new pump we brought and didn’t use View attachment 108908

No worries,
I’ve been reading you can use baking soda and super glue, it goes as hard as a rock.
Or also baby powder to make like a putty.
I just gotta try to find the leak too.
Pretty hard to see any cracks.

Thanks again.

Hi Remi,
I seem to be experiencing same issue at the moment. Not sure if it leaking around the elbow section, trying to find where to locate that around the elbow part its pretty hard. Just wondering if you ended up fixing it without replacing with new pump in the end?

Thanks

Might be worth reading my recent thread "2001 Peugeot 406 D9 petrol". As you will see, I'm having much fun with this at the moment.

Remi yours is the late bigger one
Berridale didn’t you swap the tank
DMC,

i took the tank out and fixed on the concrete floor.
The tanks deform when in place.
You know the drill.
Some things you just have to accept with French cars.

yes it was worth reading your recent post Peter, thanks for that. Think mine is small crack around base of elbow, hard to tell. In the meantime just bought some rapidfix adhesive so will try it out around that area, hopefully might fix the problem and avoid new fuel pump.

As you've probably ascertained, fuel pumps are not cheap! I'm going down the tank out path. At times, I drive fairly long distances and need to minimise potential breakdowns. Realistically, I need to buy a later model car.

yeah, lately more issues are popping up with mine! I've had it for over 12 years but unfortunately I may need to go down same path for later model car.
