Can the driver's side tie rod be removed and replaced without removing the rack? (series 3 power steering)

If you struggle to find one, you can use a 306 one and cut it to length or I would have a good second hand one kicking around.

there is a special tool to remove the inner tie rod, you can remove it in the car with that tool. it would be very difficult to remove in the car without it.
