Hi All,

I’m new here and also first time owning a Pug (2017+ 5008). I’m from Melbourne and fell in love with this car from very first sight.
I don’t see that many of 3008/5008 in the street of Melbourne and have a feeling that it probably exists only in hundreds in the whole city.
I wonder how many in this forum own the 3008/5008?
I’d love to exchange some ideas on accessories, where to (eventually, once warranty expires) getting some aftermarket parts, and possibly modifications (e.g. aftermarket sound system).
Information available on this car is still scarce in the internet, most likely due to its relatively young age compared to the 208, 308, 408, etc.

Congratulations on getting a Pug, and welcome to the forum. But, nearly a whole day without response, kind of answers your question about other 3008/5008 owners, doesn't it. Maybe they are away for the weekend, as this is very much a lifestyle type of vehicle.

BTW, we don't have 408 here.

AF is usually pretty dead on the weekends.

Hi experinker,

Welcome to :afplak:

I see plenty of new 3008s & 5008s in inner Sydney.

Yep, been busy this weekend.

Welcome. I have a 3008, which I love, purchased in March.

Still haven't seen another in my city, nor any 5008's for that matter.

The wife is now driving a 5008 Diesel and really likes it, picked it up on June 29. Traded in her 6 year old 508 Diesel S Wagon on it.
I like the way it drives as it is a nicely balanced car for it's size and the small steering wheel and control layout is good.
I do not like the engine stop start feature as it is pointless for most country driving and can not be switched off permanently but must be turned off after each restart and the dealer say's this cannot be changed.
Still have to work out the add blue additive thing though as we have already got nearly 9000 clicks on it.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yeah I agree that the stop start is actually downright annoying and trying to maneuver in the tight parking space with stop/start on is super jerky. I keep reminding myself to always switch it off at the start of the car, it becomes a standard procedure just like a pilot does in their preflight checks :)

LynCliff, did you mean you still haven't top off the adblue even after the car has nearly 9000 Kms on it? I was told by the dealer that the car will not start once the adblue tank is empty and this is apparently will happen after roughly 2400 kms.

You may have misunderstood the dealer (or the dealer is confused). I think the time between 1st warning and tank empty (thus no restart) might stretch to 2400km, but the tank should last around 18,000km or so. It’s a 17litre tank I think.

Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, on top of misunderstanding the dealer, I was misreading the adblue range that is displayed on the instrument (it says > 2400 Km, now I realised I missed the ">" sign) :).

I'd say it's very possible to turn it off using Diagbox.
But the dealer is probably not interested.

I was looking through the manual and found that the GT model cannot be fitted with snow chains. I’m assuming this is due to the insufficient gap between the outer tyre circumference and the fender.

“235/50 R19
cannot be fitted with chains”

I was wondering if it’s just manufacturer’s recommendation, or it cannot be absolutely fitted with snow chains of any type.

My guess would be that there is insufficient clearance on the inside, between rim and suspension, not outside.

Another guess is that they probably deem that chains are not needed as the gearbox has 'snow' mode. Good luck with that.

I've had a bit of experience with thin chains for a C5 hydraulique. Most chains are 12mm, some are 10, the C5 could take maximum 9mm. Hard to find, but I did get them.

Chains are also made as thin as 7mm, but they resemble hair or paper clips daisy-chained. Whilst a thin chain may fit physically, I would estimate that they could cause functional damage.

Depends which state national park you are thinking of going, assuming to ski. The Victorian fields do check, whereas in NSW, not only have I never been checked for possession, let alone size, I doubt if anyone doing the checking would know the thickness that my car required, and I suspect that it would be the same in your case.

Socks are much more popular in Europe, which could be what they mean can be fitted, but I think that they are not legal here.

Hi Dijon16, thanks for the elaborate thought. I found it interesting that the Peugeot designed the 3008/5008 to have “Grip control” option available only with 18” tyre. The grip control isn’t suitable with 19” tyre for some reason. Yet for their GT model, it comes with 19” that doesn’t have grip control, and cannot be fitted with snow chain. Perhaps a design sacrifice of looks vs function.
Well, it’s already spring so I have another year to find a chain solution for my next ski trip. I’ll check out one of those “paper clips” chain you mentioned and see if it can be fitted.

Here's some links that I used to determine just how strict the size advice was. I think that you are right about substance versus style re the 19" wheels on the GT.

The detail in these sites does vary. Some list the 19" only on 2016, some only on 2017, and others not at all. They all tend to agree that physical diamond-style chains cannot be fitted, only a flat kind of band called "Summit" that I have never seen here.

You can bet that somewhere in France, someone is plotting an AWD version of the 5008, to make it a lifestyle van. They do already have these in the Traveller, with swivelling seats, although whether they were a show special or commercially available, I am not sure.

Beware than some say "Suitable for non-chainable vehicles" whilst other say "Snow chain not suitable for vehicles designated not suitable for chains"

Before I attack the dealer, does anyone know what the deal is with satnav in the 3008?

How are updates delivered?

Why is there no voice recognition in our country (it's not as if I am not able to be understood, because all other voice command functions work just fine)?
