Well, after changing everything on the car, it has proven impossible to fix !?!.
after it started missing under load, I gave it a service w/ best oil, oil and air filters, spark plugs, rocker cover and gasket, egr valve etc... when that didn't fix it,
I sent it to a French Car "specialist" who changed the coils, de-coked the top engine, gave it back saying all fixed, two days later missed under acceleration and stalled up the hill. In desperation I sent it to the Citroen Dealer who has proven to be - after keeping the car 3 weeks - totally incompetent. They rang today to tell me the car was not going good....would I please pick it up soon....cost of that bill? $800.... That is for installing, again, a rocker cover gasket and accessory belt.

so this week end I'll put the car up for sale for parts as there are a dozen brand new parts on it, plus the car looks immaculate. Definitely a good buy for someone who has a similar one.

If you didn't direct them to replace bits randomly....... specially bits that cannot affect the problem....... a gasket and a belt.......
Tell them to take them off again and don't pay the bill.
That sounds like a fake way for them to recover some $ for time wasted.
It's reasonable for them to charge a basic fee for investigating the problem, but to falsely recover some $ that way is not.

I'm very surprised they 'dealer' were not able to pin point the issue.
Were they able to provide any error codes that you didn't have before?
Check ECU contacts for moisture/corrosion as we've had a lot of rainfall. Also check ignition wiring not worn/ fractured and again moisture ingress.

Sorry to hear

Check your injector seals. My sister had a C3 that misfired badly. Tom Dolan sorted by changing the seals on the injectors.

I would have thought vacuum leaks would only cause issues at idle, not under load ? This sort of thing should be very easy to debug by spraying something flammable around the injectors and listening for the engine not to change.

Should that be inflammable ? Sounds risky

Suggest running in the dark & looking for ignition leaks.
If you paid the Dealer with a credit card open a dispute with your CC provider as the Dealer did not fix anything related to what the vehicle was taken in for &, it seems, neither did anyone else.
Don't give in so easily.
