Has a warning anti-pollution system fault. Appears egr valve is carbon dirty & stuck open. Does the valve need to be replaced, or can it be de-carbonised without removal
The apparently 'stuck open' condition can mean the head of the poppet valve has broken off. Or the actuator arm has broken off under the plastic cover. If it won't start, a get you home fix is to slip in some sheet or a thin plate to block it off. I think you'd want to remove it to clean it and also see if the related piping is clogged with soot.
Diagnostic scanner shows trouble codes P1351, P0490, P0489, P0409.
I've decided to have egr valve removed & examined (more expensive option) with a view of replacement. Thanks for your advice.
