I am building a 306 maxi copy for the Baskerville 1000 6hr in August
I want to put bigger front brakes on my 306 xt to aid stopping at end of main straight.....any suggestions?

It probably has 247mm discs now? You could either move up to 266mm from an S16, HDi etc., or 283mm from a GTi6. The most important factor is pad quality however. If you're not paying $400 for pads you're probably not buying the right type.

Do you know if any of those models have the same size off sets for the caliper mounting brackets or do go for a complete hub, disc & caliper swap?

All the same. Straight bolt on to existing hub.
