is the engine the same ?
I've an 1994 306 xt 1.8ltr engine which I'd like to transplant into my 1996 306 xr
some external engine fittings look different 🤔 must have been upgraded at some stage. Both are N3.

Gut feeling is that the block and head will be exactly the same. Just use any ancillaries which are different from your current motor if the older setup is different enough not to bolt/wire up properly.

Thanks, that's what I think too....
will speak with mechanic...
Anyone like to do the work for my friend
C. ash.?

Check on difference between under bonnet wire looms. I put a late 306 motor into an early 306 and had all sorts of problems with wire loom and computer. If you can simply bolt on the old inlet manifold to your new motor, all should be OK.

Thanks, hopefully I've no piston damage, so that would be the go. Will have to wait and see, nothings never an easy fix as per Murphy's Law.😎
