The alternative crank angle sensor available from UK / Europe is also available in Australia: FAE 79095 / Fuelmiser CSCA589. $40

The critical diameter and length is the same as the original part, but the mounting lug is different. I'll add to the thread once I have made a suitable mounting arrangement.

This sensor measures 350 ohm compared to 70 ohm for the original. Assuming these have been in service for years on CX injection cars in Europe I guess the resistance is not critical, its the pulse induced that the control unit sees.

I was going to import a couple of these from Europe, so it’s good to know that they are available closer to home. Im interested to see how you modify them?

The modification is quite simple - I'll post pictures. you just cut through the bolt hole and use a bent washer to clamp in place. No modification to the original mounting on the bell-housing is required

The washers aren't critical, just what I had. The crescent ground in one edge clears the sensor body and the bent-over, ground flat edges act as a clamp against the bell-housing. Each has to be formed a little differently a the sensors are mounted quite close together.

The original tooth sensor has a spacer, this is not required on the alternative sensor.
