INCHCAPE To Show Us How To Sell Citroens?

You forgot the L & K Slavia motorbike - probably the first. The cars are VWs with improvements.

I knew some Czech mechanics trained during the Communist era. These blokes had a super tech system that taught them to fix just about anything. They needed those skills considering what was around then.

Their machinery was logically designed and intended to be repaired with parts sharing between models. There is little on a Zetor that is not accessible and can't be repaired. I never dealt with Skoda cars so I don't know if it was continued into their cars. The Czech engineers at Motokov would do anything for you, even give their home phone numbers so you could call over the weekend.

The Czechs have always been great engineers........................................................Don't know about their cars but they still make parts for their fifty year old tractors.
Isn't that what happens when you can't sell new ones? ;)

No, that's what happens when a company designs machines to last for a long time and stands behind them. Peugeot used to make parts for its cars for years. The 403 was supported for 16 years after it went out of production, 27 years after the first 403 was made. In the old socialist days Jawa used to spend a week every year making obsolete parts and back orders. Vehicles are expensive, use a great deal of material and energy to make and require considerable manufacturing capacity. There is no engineering impediment to manufacture and support long life vehicles. Much better than the Chinese landfill approach.

Škoda auto a.s is a wholly owned subsidiary of VW. They manufacture some components for other parts of the group,

Very much agree. During the Communist era it may still have been true but the commitment to quality was lost and Skoda had a well earned reputation for the least reliable cars on the British market. Skoda jokes abounded. Since then VW took over and I for one, would be proud to drive a Skoda.

Have just discovered that the local Citroen/Peugeot dealer in Newcastle (Pacific Euro) 'will no longer have Citroen on display for Sale' https://www.citroennewcastle.com.au/ From what I was told, it sounds like Peugeot will still be on display and parts and service still available for Citroen. It was a product of poor sales, I was told.

Meanwhile, a new multimillion Porsche Centre is currently under construction in Newcastle. A sign of changing consumer tastes in cars, I guess.

carsales just posted anonymised ad - for a picasso so not quite OT -
”... Located just 15km from the Melbourne CBD, we have over 70 years of experience in Peugeot. We are the longest operating family-owned Peugeot dealer in the world and hope our passion for the brand is obvious from the moment you start dealing with us ...”
- hadn't Regans sold out?

Semantics I suppose. The business has the name of the previous owner no doubt bought as part of the deal. It may well be owned by a family just not the one that used to own the operation. At least they've stopped advertising they brought Peugeot to Australia.

C5 Aircross is a pretty good value car - when they are being offered for around the 40k mark. Surprised they aren't selling more...but you have to find somewhere which actually sells them to start with! :ROFLMAO:

They're pretty good value, but let down by some dumb specification choices by Inchcape - the use of the older 1.6 engine with 6 speed auto and lack of adaptive cruise control - something that's in the base Hyundai i30 - are a couple of things that spring to mind...

Lets hope both things are rectified when the MY21 (or MY22) vehicles arrive...

Citroen are dead! I don't why they just don't pull the pin now! Seriously, talk about running a great brand into the ground! Well done Inchcape! You've really shown us how to sell Citroens! Sweet FA effort!

April was the first month of Ateco at the wheel of Renault and they did say April was going to be a down month, due to the change over of the distribution and not having a lot of cars to sell. That number is pretty sad though, but was probably expected with their current situation. I haven't seen Renault sales down that low in years!

I believe the Skoda dealership is also changing over,so if Skoda is a possibility you may want to check out their new location first,?
Here in Perth, the Citroën/Peugeot dealer, also sells Skoda. This was the result when Inchcape took over the dealership and Allpike closed down. I had my C5 serviced there a couple of weeks back, and they lent me a large Citroen Aircross for the day, which was a pretty impressive way to travel.
