Gday all, just thought i'd tell you about my experience today. I was looking on carsales.com.au, and found a 88 white 205 gti for $7990 down at South Melbourne Holden (i think that was its name). it's only a 15 minute drive from parkville so i grabbed a mate, and we headed down. The car was in reasonable condition, and felt mechanically excellent for its 230,000kms. it'd had $2.5k spent on it (head reco, new valves, tranny reco, bit of interior work), and they offered me a 12 month warranty if i took it. Made up my mind though, i'm buying a 205. so much low down torque, fantastic driving position, and no rattles in the interior. only thing that bugged me is that it had the funny cloth sunroof thingo, and as it was raining i didnt get a chance to have a good look at it, but whats the go with them?
i'm getting a friend of my fathers to check this one out, it looks like fantastic value to me
