Default Costs of freighting a new factory crate engine UK to Aust

    Hi brains trust

Any pointers of direct experience on how to economically get a BRAND NEW crate engine from the UK to Brissy.

Still in the factory box and unblemished. I have a suspicion that even though it's only GBP 950 the cost of importing it would be horrendous.

What customs and import issues raise their ugly heads?

"our courier doesn't cover outside UK/Europe. You are more than welcome to contact your own couriers to obtain a cost for collection. The dimensions of the parcel are 60cm x 82cm x 70cm with the weight being approx 78kg"

Any experience doing this is most welcome, especially if you have used a firm that has done the job well
    Cheers

I'd use a freight consolidator, who fumigate and certify the containers prior to departing. Cam85's horror story about the AQIS hater who hot washed the inside of his motor (maliciously) under the guise of cleaning it made me very gun shy about self-organised freight.

    Thank you gentlemen

I was wary of doing it myself, for the rarity of this piece I have no qualms about spending a few hundred or so dollars to have someone handle this.

By doing it myself, even though this is a brand spanker factory fresh engine still in its box who knows what goofy ideas AQIS will have.

Thanks for the POC Mr UFO

I continue to recommend Greg Selsby as he recently helped one of my other interests import a quantity of new and old theatre organ components from the USA - much of it containing timber. Greg's company provided outstanding service from pickup in Seattle through to delivery into Sydney. We had no probs with AQIS etc as all documentation was provided.

I haven't used him, but he is a member of the RCCQ, and in Brisbane.
