    Cheap 406 anyone ?

Just spotted this on Fowles Auction site.
Thought I'd post it in case any of the "keenies" were looking for something to play with.
It has "0" klms on the clock and no VIN as it is considered a write off so I don't know how bad it really is
The other strange feature is "Compliance date" that really doesn't relate to the mileage quoted. (Maybe it's so flat they can't read the speedo)

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

Alan, no VIN / Statutory Write Off generally translates as significant shell damage, so you're really only looking at parts / you can't reregister that shell (unless you can find yourself another/illegal VIN.) Photos on the Fowles site sometimes appear only the day before the auction. The Pickles site usually puts up a Catalogue along with the auction listing a couple of days beforehand that gives a somewhat generalised description of the damage for nearly every listing, so if there's ne photo you still get some idea. (Peugeot 306 listed in Brisbane for Monday; Berlingo failed to sell/ was withdrawn? in Sydney last week, back up again.)
I can't understand when they decide to make something a statutory write off, as I've seen plenty of vehicles you'd think were unrepairable not declared such. eg IIRC that Xantia in Townsville wasn't a statutory write off, but who would repair it?
Someone-else in the know clarify this?

    and a ps
'0' km usually means they're not game enough to/ can't turn on the ignition to get the dash read out to fire up. Happens with quite a few listings.
But it could also mean it's stripped or burnt.
