Default Series 1 Mi 16 Whats it worth?

    Hi Ppl

A mate of mine has a black Mi 16 series 1 thats seen better days. He's just bought a 307 and is looking to sell the Mi. Heres a quick run down:

Paintwork poor condition , with fading on the roof etc
    Interior so so (cloth)
    Air Con doesn't work.
Engine seems to be pretty good, don't recall how many Kms. Runs fine at any rate and doesnt use oil. Timming belt is due though.

This car would probably suit someone who wants to do a 205 converstion, or do up. I'm pretty sure it has the 15" alloys, not 14"

Any suggestions on how much its worth would be good (or any offers) I'm the go between so bear with me on replies Pics and futher details shouldn't be a prob, but atm just testing the waters.

    Thanks

    Ky

$3000 -$4500 Depending on Rego RWC Tyres, Service history etc. @ $3000 I may be interested myself, as a donor car then possible rebuild later.
Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten!

I had a look at a similar condition (270000 Km) 15" car in Newcastle in a yard. They were asking just $4500.

    Hi Ppl

I went over today to take some pics, and check up on some info.

The engine has done 206000 k's, idles a bit rougher than mine but has always done so. No apparent oil leaks or use.

Air con seems to just need re-gasing, though its been like that for a little while so seals may have perished

Drivers side window mech needs replacing.

The alloys are 15", two of the tyres are bald.

The bodywork with the exception for the paint is pretty good, no noticeable dents etc. There is a crack on the rear skirt(see pic)

the interior is not actually that bad, the usual cracks in the side vent thingys and the dimister vent between that dash and the windscreen. There is also a crack on the drivers side door trim where you rest your elbow. Seat trim in good nick.

Paint is really bad(see pics), but as body is straight would be ok to fix up.

Rick if your serious about your offer then message me if you like. I think $3000 is a fair price.

    Thanks

    Ky

    Hi Ky & co,

This is your uncle. The said 405 (smoker) as seen recently and when I saw it many years ago was a tad scungy condition wise. The paint then had packed it's bags and gone on holidays.

I'd say it would be worth around $1000 - 1500 and then one would be buying trouble.

    Cheers ..... Nick

    A Pug indeed Pugrambo.

Maybe I should establish a new winery instead - I can just see it "Puglumba Vale Estate" First vintage Bin 604. Matured in 403 sumps.

My nephew, Ky can be the crusher - using the head off his multi valve mi16, sounds a bilt rifleish or Scotland Yardish ? I get the 16 bit, but what's with the mi?

    Cheers ....... Nick

    The way I see it:

Take the car as is say for $1500
    add:
    new paint $3000 min
    tyres x 2 300
    driver's door repair 200
    regas aircond 150 min
    allowance for unknown
fixes as a result of poor
    servicing 2000 min

    = $7150 min

The maths speaks for itself. One should be able to pick up a good straight well serviced 89 Mi 16 for $6000.

I feel sorry for any one selling a car on this site - i've read most posts -there are lot of talkers/time wasters but little action or follow through. My advice to people is don't say that you might be interested in buying, or that you might come to town and touch base when in fact you have little intention of doing so. Either you are a buyer or not - don't pretend to be one as this really pisses people off big time.

    Cheers .... Nick I

From what I've seen & bought, I'd suggest just slap it through the auctions; you'd have to get better than $1500 for it.
We battled to get a BX16V with an underbonnet fire for $1500 and I heard of BX Tris going for $2200 with front end damage.
At a guess, I'd reckon it would pull at least $2500 - $3000
Ask the tyre kickers at the auction for an appraisal; they're usually pretty close to the mark.

    Alan S
If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

Jeez Nick you seem so keen on it though....

Apologies to Kaiser but my situation has changed I would have bought it for the engine as a spare for my race car. It came down to a spare engine or Autronic injection, guess which won.
