    Default Xu9 and xu10 interchangeable??

    Will the head and exhaust manifold from a xu9j2 fit straight onto an xu10j2 motor?? If so...any hiccups with it?

    Default XU9 vs XU10 exhaust manifold.

    If you are talking about original manifolds, then not quite. The stud pattern between the two is slightly different. The port size and spacing is the same, but the XU9 engine has a set of 3 studs around each pair of ports, the XU10 engine has a pair of studs between each pair of ports.

    Some aftermarket manifolds are drilled for either arrangement on a full plate flange.

    I am just about to buy a pair of extractors from Holland which are drilled to suit either.

    If you are looking for an exhaust manifold for an XU9 engine, I have a couple surplus to requirement.

    Cheers.

    Most people fit an XU10 J2 head to an XU9 becauseof the bigger valves, inlet ports are round on the XU10J2, people in the UK machine the manifolds and ports to match.

    In regard to your question one thing would be , would the bigger pistons clear the edges of the combustion chambers?
    Why not just fit the complete XU10J2 engine, especially if the head is presumed to be better?

    By the way the XU9J2 is entirely different to Xu9JAZ (DKZ) or Xu9J1 (DFZ).
    Photo of XU9J2 inlet manifold attached, the ports are semi vertical and round. Note the dual throttle body like a 16v.

    Thanks for the input there Graham as always. :}
    Somehow my question has got off the rails.....i was asking purely about exhaust manifolds. [i;m fine with the inlet side of things ]
    I do have a XU10 J2 TE and am trying to find out if an exhaust manifold from a XU9J2 would fit ? [the xu10 OE ones are crap ]
    Also would a very worked head from a xu9j2 fit on a xu10 lump??

    I'm sure XU9J2 and XU10J2 EXHAUST manifolds are interchangeable.

    As Peter says, yes almost certain they are the same, I think Racing 405 is thinking of 16 valve engines.
    The XU9J2 was only fitted to early 405s, still trying to to be pedantic re these codes!

    Default Xu9j2....

    Dead right, should pay more attention. Never touched an XU9J2. Sorry, will try and be more attentive in class.

    The xu9j2 that i am presently looking at has 2 studs around each pair of ports....were you thinking of the 16v again regarding this ? :}
