    Default Fuel Starvation - S16

    Hi guys,

My 306 S16 seems to be getting fuel starvation during hard cornering, whenever the fuel tank is below 1/4 full.
I never used to get it before so it has got my wondering what it could be.

I am going to replace the fuel pump and external filter to see if it helps but does anyone have any other suggestions?

Does the 306 have an internal fuel filter as well as the external?

    cheers

It only has one pump in the tank. I would replace the cheap things first, a fuel pump will not be cheap, and is probably not your problem (It either works or does not). Start by changing the fuel filter and have a look to see if any fuel hoses are kinked.

    You could try:

    1. Driving around corners slower .

    2. Not letting the tank get lower than say half full (My 205 suffers from the same the fuel sloshes to one side of the tank so I have to keep it at least 5/8 full during motorkhana competitions).

    3. 1/2 Fill the tank and test it !

perhaps an intake hose into the pump has fallen off? that is just a general suggestion: i have only replaced one in-tank pump, and that was a toyota, but it did have a small inlet pipe with a gauze filter on the end, extending down below the bottom of the pump.

i agree that it is unlikely to be the pump, but fyi, they are available for $45 from HK on ebay....

The gauze in the tank can get very clogged and perish, causing intermittent blockages. If it's not the filter or lines I'd put my money on that - but if it's anything like an evo 7 then you have to buy the pump to replace the gauze.
