    James,

I think 120 is past the redline in 3rd gear in my bog standard 306XR (1.8L)

I'd imagine the results would be downright embarassing too

    Ok,

I tried the traction, would you beleive it took 8seconds, I didn't even open the 2nd choke on the carby, or change up a gear after I got there (think about it wink )

Then I tried the 2cv, the throbbing 2cylinders of power, with about 7500rpm on board topped out in 4th gear at about 115km/h... It only took about 6 s.........hours to get there

So I went and tried the CX turbo, my vision turned down to a narrow slit from the shear 'G' forces in acceleration created preventing me from looking at the stop watch or the speedo, by the time everything was back in focas I was sitting on the rev limmiter in 5th eek! eek! eek!

Excellent work there. Ok the 2CV might take a while ..... oh but what style. BTW is it a 'Charleston' version my family has a black and burgundy one my father drives on special occasions. Excellent for picnics with the removable seats....... shy

    James,

I tried it last night but didn't have a bloody watch of ANY sort on me! Don't worry I can easily get to 120 in 3rd.

I've put a stopwatch in the car so next time I'm out I'll check wink

    C'mon there then James-

surely you are gonna get the ball rolling by telling us how quickly your machine 80-120 is?

and Shane just how quick was the cx turbo?

    OK

    Just got to work
    I did it 3 times.
    First - 8.5
    second - 7.5
    third 7.5

That would be an average of 7.833
I think I stuffed up on the first one somehow :p
The question remains - do I trust the stopwatch on my old Siemens mobile??

How bout another one (when i get mu car back on the road)

    40-80kms/h second gear. (3200rpm-6200rpm)

I did one the other night, about 3.1.

Everything happens sooo quickly, what with using the stop watch, watching the road, the speedo, changing the music track to Britney's "Hit me baby one more time", plugging my charger and hands-free into my phone to tell my friends about my time, resetting the odometer, upping the heater, changing to re-circulation onto my feet and the windscreen demister, turning on front and rear windscreen washers and wipers, turning of my fog lights because I saw some Mr. Policemen Fishie (Elmo's friend) and delinting my seats...it's very hard to keep my attention on choosing the right air-freshener.

    Ow how I ramble.

One thing I have noticed though, i get consistently better acceleration when the car has been running for about 10-15mins, not totally warmed up, and with pressing the accelerator, not stomping on it.

    Me out...

Ok James, I wasn't going to do it tonight, but the challenge was too great:

    5.6
    5.7
    5.75
    Av. 5.68

That was with a passenger (as where the previous runs, who also hit the datalog button for the three runs. The log makes very interesting reading. When I work out how to extract the information I'll post it.

It could also be due to the fact that the whells weigh more.

    OR

That the Ecu hasnt been altered after Katt was removed, other cams in engine, better exhuast and Kn open air filter...

Has anyone had experience with the above??

Are there any 'standards' for the virtual drag in an auto?

Want to test out the XM but don't want to get disqualified! I guess I can hold it in 3rd at 80 but no guarantees it won't change back to second on acceleration.

My other test I'll do for you is a mate's skyline gtr he picked up yesterday. I know it's definately not French (well, maybe it is, kind of, now Renault owns Nissan) but I've never felt so much acceleration in a car.

Deka...isn't the norm just to 'kick-down'?

I wouldnt think any less of you if your auto trannie decided 2nd was a better gear for you.

    Phasis,

That's the word I was looking for! It escaped me at 2am last night. Why was I on here at 2am you ask? I had just finished an assignment and needed a dose of froginess.

    Sounds good anyway :p

What's wrong with your car if it's off the road? It's probably in another post somewhere but anyway.

I'll give you times on the XM sometime soon.
