James...that is an great air box you have going there. Does it improve things much?

    Is that a 1.9 or a 2l donk?

    Have you had it dynoed?

Have the quad throttle bodies made a difference?

    What other mods you got?

I am just full of questions

I don't know James. That air cleaner looks a bit phallic to me! How fast 0-100km/h and 400m? Perhaps we should have a virtual drag?

    James,

Nice looking car you have there!!!!!!!! Engine Mods plus all that TLC really pay off in the "phwoooaaaa" factor!

Just a quick question, how can yours be a Mi16 if is only a SOHC engine?? Looks pretty similar to my old 1.9 205 GTi engine. Hey, there is more work under your bonnet that Pamela Anderson so anything IS possible! :p

    Looking good Daniel.

PeterT, what would you suggest instead?
I suppose a second airbox or atleast heatshield would be better?

Brad it's a 1.9 8v with more power than mine.
    btw, they're carbs.

    17" x 8"...really?
got any close up pics of the arches?
I know what you needed to do to make them fit but i didn't think they were 8" wide.
Mine are only 7" wide and needed arch work, problem is that the wheels i'm considering are 8" wide.

Have you cut or compressed the springs?
    Got any dyno figures?

I thought we could have an online drag to see who's got the quickest pug. I know I won't even be close, but it would be interesting info. It could happen like this:

Find your favourite stretch of flat road. Do 3 runs, 70-120km/h in 3rd (most pugs can do 120 in 3rd, redline for 205). Passenger and driver. Record and post the 3 times, plus average.

    PetetT,

Sounds good but i think its better if everyone with an mi16 to rev alltheway.

Because for ex. i have wilder cams in mine and that makes it a bit slower at low rpm and faster at the higher rpm....
    At 120 km/h i was doing 6000 RPM

Anyway i tried what you suggessted and i got on a very straight road:

    8.44
    8.55 Average 8,493 sec
    8.49

    My 405 mi16 (1.9 L 16 v)

    Kat. Removed
    K&N oppen air filter
    good Swedish sport exuast.
    Fast road Cams

The ECU has not been altered but soon to be...

Andreas, im running Jamex lowering springs but have cut another two loops out of them, a bit of mucking around but I got it in the weeds......
As far as the back is concerned the inner guards are gone. I also had to run a hack saw along between the top of the bumper rear ward to the wheel arch. This was then unceremonialy bashed to shit by a big hammer back into the wheel arch. I then sprayed the close clearance areas with white paint and kept on bashing metal bits that were touching as the paint was rubbed off. Had to pull the gaurds out a bit as well. No science just the need to get it low......
Peter, I will try the virtual drag tonight.
    Later boys........ evil

So you didn't need to respray the wings?
Did you need to modify the rear doors at all?
A guy with 18x8's had to apparently.

I've just blown a starter motor, so won't be going 'til the weekend. While it was all out, I took the injectors for a clean. Below are the ml/30 sec. before and after.

    40 48
    39 48
    40 48
    38 48

    That's up to 25% leaner!

We could always change it to 70-130, but I figured it wouldn't be fair for the 8 valvers.

    7.86
    7.75

    Average 7.736 seconds.
Now the same exercise using 2nd and 3rd eek! gave much better results.

    7.10
    7.14
    7.17

    Average 7.136

Second gear ran out at 110-112 ks, 3rd went onto 150-155 ks. Dont have the money to see how far 4rth and 5th will go ! eek!

What do you mean 'wings' !? Ok I admit it fly's
    but wings .........
No change to doors apart from those that I blow off other cars !!!!!
If you are having so much trouble with clearance, I hate to say it, raise the car !
I have my car lowered with enough space to slide my index finger between the top of the wheel arch and the top of the tyre, front and back.
Lets see you virtual drag........... tongue

Did you notice a difference after you put back the injectors ? acceleration? drivability?

Mine have done 165 000 km so it might be time to do something about it hehe

James how did you test 70-120 ?
I put in 3 rd and drove at 70 km/h then i slamed the pedal and waited to rach 120 ...

Ill try 70- 130 today ill get back with info.

Good consistent times guys! Where's that 205/Mi16?
I haven't got mine back together yet. Can't wait. I suspect I'll have to re-map the ECU however. I suspect I've had dud injectors for a long time, and the current maps are based on the flow from the dirty injectors. 25% more fuel is definitely going to be too rich. Mine has done 145K.

I only got a chance to do one 70-120km run tonight...too many cars on my chosen stretch.

    6.65sec @ about 6200rpm

It felt a little hesitant on take off...i might try and load the engine up with some heal toe and see if that helps.

Might also try it with shifting through 2nd aswell.

Good times Phasis! Makes the modified Pugs look sad! Just goes to show what that a difference the two stage inlet manifold makes. I got mine back together today, but as I suspected, mixtures where a bit rich. I'll tune it up tomorrow and hopefully post some times tomorrow night. It's so smooooooth though with clean injectors, it just has to be better.

    2) Are you driving upp to 70 in 3 rd then waiting at 70 for a few seconds before you start acc to 120 ??? or are you guys acc and as soon as you pass 70 you start the clock?

    PugPower,
I think your car is sick. Phasis, you need three times to qualify. James, didn't you say once, that your car ate Mi16's? How's this!

    3rd 70-120
    6.87
    6.93
    6.79
Av. 6.86 (I also did 6.00, but slightly downhill)

    2nd/3rd 70-120
    6.4
    6.87
    6.90
    Av.6.72

    405 Mi16 1.9 160hp
    Haltech E6A ECU
    MSD 6A ignition
