    SEAT INSTALLATION, Require help...

    <img src="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid27/pb325fcf99d5c702c3679b67acc97bc3b/fd72f07d.jpg.orig.jpg" alt=" - " />

I have Bought these seats, and intend on putting them in the Xsara, However when i ween to install them on the weekend, i found out that the Xsara seat rails are both not mounted on the floor. The INSIDE seat reail is bolted to the floor, however the OUTSIDE/DOOR side seat rail is mounted to the side of the car!

This makes the original rails not compatable with the attaching holes on the seats. Can anyone reccomend a place that will build a bracket and "Blue Plate" the modification so it is legal for a reasonable price?

Places such as Street Wise will do it, but i am not going to pay almost $500 as they quoted to do it! this is rather expesive. This is a rather urgent request for anyone to give me a hand!

    Cheers,

I think the best approach would be to modify the original seat base to fit the new seats, so you can use the original rails. In other words, you'd remove all mounting hardware (rails etc) from the new seats, then use the bottom mounting frame of the standard Xsara seats to suit, instead. This means you may have to sacrifice your existing seats unless you can get some spare ones.

Otherwise something will have to be engineered up from scratch and that means more $$$.

An engineer will still have to do it if you want it legal.

    $500 seems expensive.

I had the original seat bases on a VW modified to suit Honda Prelude seats... it ended up costing about $300 for 2 - engineered.

BTW - did you end up getting those new wheels, I might still be interested in your Xsara 15" wheels.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

i had another quote today, and they wanted to charge me 500-600. I was not impressed!

$200 i could handle, but $600 whoaaa there!

They quoted me on, taking the original runners building a plate for them to attach to the current Jamex bucket seats. Building a plate, welding abit here and attaching it, is by far not $600

The wheels are still on order, should be here mid this month! all going well!

Have a talk to John Palmer at Peugeot Care at Holden St. Wooloongabba. I am sure he could do the mods, and is certified to do mod plates for engines, cages, seats, brakes etc.

    Hi Xsara,
I was suggesting you call John at Peugeotcare. The No. is 38915504 at 6 Holden St, Woolloongabba. I am sure you will find them to be of assistance.
