Does anyone know if the 205 S3 head fits on S1?

Hi guys I'm gonna get my motor reco'd soon. Since I'm probably going to do a bit of work to the head to get a little more power/torque, I just want to know whether the series 3 head will fit straight on to the S1 and S2 block. This might save me money and time. If anyone knows this then I would really appreciate it.

As far as I know they are all the same so, yes, it does fit.

Yes, it will fit on, but the S3 head has a different, less deep chamber. Don't know about the ports, but hopefully it would not have the little extra hole and boss in the exhaust port that has to be filled and removed to make it flow.

Whats a boss? And are you talking about the hole in the chamber? Aren't the ports all part of the head? (Hope that isn't ridiculous) Just seems to me that if the valves are in the head the ports would have to be also

I think he means extra little holes inside the exhaust ports for anti-pollution equipment.

The Australian series 1 GTI head is not a true "GTI" head. It is more like a 305 1.9 carby head. It has larger combustion chambers and shorter ports with tighter bends than a proper GTI head.

On mine I tapped out the exhaust port emmissions hole and screwed in a piece of aluminium rod. This allowed me to then open out the port to a better shape and not end up with a big slot in the bottom of the port where the hole is.
