    Icon5 Rear shocks preference.

im looking to get either koni ext. adj. or bilstein sprintline for the 205 rear. i know bilsteins are more expensive but for anyone that has sampled both and without the pricetag, which would you say are better?

I had both on my 205 GTI and I would put the Koni yellows back on again. The 205 was the first, and last car I ever put anything other than Konis on.

The Bilstein sprints are terrible to begin with, and they only last an unpleasant 5000 km. I have limited experience with the 205 but the 106 is really similar to it. I personally like Bilstein Group N better than Koni for my 106, but it largely depends on the car's set-up. I much prefer a softer shock/stiffer spring combination and I have really stiff springs (285 lbs/inch) and 21 mm torsion bars. As for durability, I have about 45000 hard kilometers on them and I keep checking them and they have yet to fall below the spec given for the out-of the-box unit.

Then again, you can't go wrong with Koni.

ok noting this and double-checking they're the "streetline" type. are they the same item? would you know if they're serviceable?

on another light, i can also get a pair of aftermarket coil-overs for the rear. its only for road use but considering i have to wait the same time for the boge's or these others at a slight increase in price, would they be worth it?

Suspension supplier doesn't know its TB rear.

Heasman's in Sydney can supply you with some non-externally adjustable, but rebuildable (:. can be reshimmed/adjusted) Bilsteins. They're abit stiffer than the Peugeot shocks. On a damper dyno the compression line of the Bilsteins has the same gradient but the rebound line gradient is alot more constant than the slightly irratic Pug rebound line. Heasman's thought the Pug damper was pretty good but the Billy is definately better.
    I'm pretty sure they're about $300 each.

For the rear? That would be a real hat trick!

They would work realy well for the front though, 260 - 300 lbs/inch, 30 mm lowering.

Sprint or Streetline, it doesn't mattter much, Group N are the ones to get. Yellow Koni would be the second option but I would run them in the softest setting.
