    Default One for 203 owners.

I've got the chance of a boot handle / brake light from fleabay france. Apparently it's off a '53 203.
    Will it fit my '58?

Same shape and size, but it will have a brake and tail light in it. Will fit perfectly

    Cheers

    Thanks Tony,

By the way, is your old man still in his shed?

He must have found something very interesting!

    Mike.

PS I've managed to patch up my old sills - not perfect, but good enough for me.

I agree - it is exactly the right size, but has 2 little red panels for the early tail light and stop light.
Notice in the pic below of an early model, you can just make out the red bits on either side of the key latch.
Probably a good idea to convert these 2 feeble lights into ultra bright red neons

So many projects - so little time.

Here is a better picture - you can see what the back looks like with later model tail lights & an early boot lid key mechanism.

    Not too bad actually!

    Great minds think alike.

As 'rambo pointed out those lights on the guards aren't the right ones, but they look the part and seem as if they'd be more useful than the originals (which I don't have). Anybody any idea what they're off?

Your 1958 model should have the blinkers incorporated in the rear lamp clusters. The fully chromed rear boot handle it is meant to have started in October 1954. As you're obviously not doing a concours car, it hardly matters and the extra lights could be an advantage.

I've reread my post and it sounds like I'm being sarcastic/pushy. Sorry for that, like I said there's no rush.

This boot handle just turned up but it'll probably be a couple of years yet until it gets fitted.

    Russell,

Thanks for your comments, but as you rightly say, I'm not going for a concours car, but one which, when/if finished will be usable in everyday traffic.

The way people over here drive the more lights on your rear end the better.
I've never driven behind a 203, but I would imagine it's lights are about as bright as a Bush!

    Mike.
