    Default 405 help

Hey i have a pug, its a 405 8 valve and its fuel injected.

The automatic transmission has shit it self and im asking how much would it cost for another one? i heard it was alot but i want to know how much.

and my piston rings have died or something because it blowing alot of blue smoke plus i think my automatic choke is stuffing up because i cant start it when its warm i have to wait till its fully cold.

My transmission only lets me select reverse not drive or 3,2,1

if someone can help me it would be really appreciated

    thank you

    405 Fan,
Momentum's reply to you really made me smile!
Seriously, I have owned a couple of Series 1 auto 405's & their weakspot is the ZF automatic. I had to have one rebuilt [which is an option for you] by the then Peugeot warranty transmission specialists, A&B Automatics in Murrumbeena [now moved to Dandenong I'm told & under some other name]. Very good at their job they had a fix for the internals [some plastic parts] that made it more reliable than before. Expensive - $2,200!
There are many reasons apart from rings [unless obviously a compression test shows] for the engine faults, particularly if the yellow engine diagnostics warning light comes on in the instrument cluster.
But you may be better of getting a better second hand one - they don't cost much anymore - but pick carefully - perhaps one where the owner says.."I had the bloody transmission fixed.....!"
    Best of luck,
    John
