Default Xsara VTS - replacement brakes...?

    Hi guys.
I'll probably need new discs and pads in my '02 VTS soon. Just wondering if there were any "bigger brake" alternatives readily available in Australia at a decent price. I'd love something like this - http://lefrancaisconnection.com/citu...s.aspx?pid=491 - , but alas, the credit card isn't that big!

Any suggestions? The car stops well as is (with the ABS, EBFD and all that), but I figure that if there is something better available that's just a bit pricier than the stock, why not go for it?

    Cheers.

Edit: I've had the brakes in the Xsara smoking before, so....

If you are looking a putting in bigger brakes then you will need bigger rims as well. The standard 283 mm front disks and calipers only just have enough clearance with the standard 15" alloys.

Rats, I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. I like my rims

In that case, any alternative discs such as grooved (etc) that will deliver better performance?

standard size options include the EBC trackday groove disc with greenstuff pads

big budget options include 17" rims (205/40/17) with the Tarox 350mm disc with Tar-ox 6 pot callipers. Ultra budget can upgrade these discs and pads to a hybrid ceramic disc with sintered pads.

    Thanks for that XsaraVTS.
I might look at the EBC Trackday Grooved Discs and the Green Stuff pads. What would the life expectancy of these products be for road use?

Save some $$$$ and get the DBA longlife slotted rotors instead. Just as good. Others here have done that. I've been using ferodo ds2500 pads. Expensive but phenomenal. Maybe a bit of an overkill for the street, but they're not hard on rotors either.
