    Default 205 brake upgrade.

    Hi guys,

    Can someone (with experience) point me in the correct direction in upgrading my brakes.

    Car = 205 GTI s2 (1988)

    The car's braking performace is terrible. Ive read somewhere that the 306 brakes are a good /cheap /easy upgrade? I am willing to increase wheel size to 15" to accomadate.

    The car will be used for track days.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Becomes a headache cos you need S3 hubs/shafts to fit the bigger brakes, I'd look at what pads you're running,they're the cheapest up grade.I'd reccommend ferodo 3000's for track, 2500's for road/track . Don't worry about the rears, for track work they're fine as is

    The standard brakes are fine, just fix what's wrong with them. European Auto Imports in Box Hill have good performance pads and very cheap, well under $100.
    You may find that you need caliper kits or the rear drums may need relining, maybe the booster isn't working properly

    Do a search. I've covered this several times, but I don't think many have picked up on it. The later drive shafts are essential.

    Peter,

    I think you should write a book and we can sell it on here "what to do when you want a 205/405".
