    Default 205 G/Box Removal

Can the gearbox in a 205 be removed without taking out the engine. I have a stipped lower mounting bolt thread and need to Helicoil it. The Haynes manual says I need to remove engine and gearbox as one unit. The aircon pipe wich may prevent it being removed with engine in situ will not be in the way because the aircon does not work and I intend on removing the complete system.

Yes. Put a piece of 4x2 timber accross the engine bay. It should be cut to length so it just fits inside the guards. This will allow you hold the gearbox end of the motor up.
