    Icon10 Increase HP

Hi, I am after cold air intake for my Brand new GTI180. I would like to increase its HP. Are there any intake systems designed especially for the 180?

Just a warning, you will probably be baraged with responses like

"180hp out of NA 2 litre engine, why do you need more"

Do a search you'll find plenty of debates about intakes/exhaust.

Reality is, unless you have MEGA BUCKS, you may only make noise or even reduce you cars performance.

If you want to just mod your car "just because" then go for it. Make it yours. but dont expect gains.

I have modded my 306 supension wise, and even put a cheap tri-flow rear muffler on the back, simply for sound. There was no need to do this to my car, and a good driver would go faster in a stock 306 round a track than me, but a least i feel my car is MINE.

In regards to the 180, Maybe look at a LSD, sticky tyres (even smaller rims!!) might be better gains there.

Of course you can mod them and can get something, but generally not without losing something else. eg. look at the awesome 205 gti track cars that a few members here have. Handles much better than the stock setup, but does it ride just as well? So generally I believe with most mods with these cars, there is something to gain, but something to lose. So all depends on whether the individual person believes that gain is worth more than the loss. Of course there are exceptions and I'm sure there exists some mods with plenty of research and/or money will net gains with little or no loss.

With the '180, there is a relatively complex dual stage air intake, which seems to me, is to have a good compromise between top end and low/midrange.

So yeah, go for it, just know the possibilities and risks so you can make an informed decision. I mean, that is why the thread was posted and the question was asked right?
    Take the long way home....

Especially when maxisa180 posted it twice, once in this AF category, the other in another category. Must have wanted to cover all bases.

Yep, the one Peugeot fits to it at the factory. Designed especially for that car, and that engine.
