    Default 306 Aux. Belt issues....

    Hi all....
I have a 306 s16 and the drive belt is squealing a bit at idle under load.
I know that this model has a self adjuster, but it's not taking up enough tension.

Does anyone know how to adjust the self adjuster?

Maybe too long a belt has been previously fitted. My 306 self adjuster certainly kept plenty of tension on the belt. Maybe simply a crap belt that does not grip very well. Stick with a Gates or a Conti Tech.

It is probably the main pully (on the crank) if the belt is new. The pully is two piece with rubber in between the two metal parts. If it is what I think, the outer is slipping and the squeal is the rubber in between the outer and inner parts of the pully being rubbed. If you leave it too long then one day you will be sitting in traffic, the aircond compressor may kick in or something else and a huge cloud of smoke will eminate from under the car. You will then hear nasty (metal on metal) noises, and your powersteering will stop working!!! Don't let it go that far (I did)!!!!
