Default Gear linkage rubber kit ?

    Hi,

I noticed just the other day that the little rubber o-ring type things in my gear linkages have just about completely perished away, and the long linkage actually fell off the when I was driving (leaving me stuck in 3rd gear ). I replaced that one with a piece of rubber I carved up out of a leed plug and the car is now drivable. My car is an 81' 505 with 5 speed box.

I would really like to know if there is a kit or something to replace all of the rubbers within the linkages ?, preferably in the Brisbane area.

    Cheers,

    Glen.

    Glen,

I think EAI will have what you want:

They are great to deal with and have overnight delivery (to Wodonga at least) if you order before 3pm. I've also heard they give a discount to French car club members, don't quote me on this.

    Matt.
On the internet, no one knows that you are only wearing a fez.

I can only assume you mean the plastic inserts in the ends of the linkage rods?

There is an insurance you can institute yourself with these... tie copper wire in a kind of figure-8 over the joint so it can't separate.

These really are poor excuses of linkages from a durability point of view...

Cheers for both of your help, EAI sounds like my best bet. I'll give them a call today.

I've been through this with the 504 ... I think you'll find you have to purchase the complete linkage to get what you want. Can't just buy the rubber/plastic inserts.

Last one I got at Dapco was about $15... sorry, I thought you realised you'd have to buy the whole rod.
