    Default Another suspension question

Part1: I'm considering replacing my dampers all-round with GTi6 items. As my car is lowered using eibach -35mm springs, rear torsion bar down 2 splines(?)
Just wondering if that is a good idea? I'm worried that the standard ones arent coping and will need replacing soon.
I have spoken to Alec Mildren Parts just to get an idea of cost and was surprised that it wasnt that much. Even more surprising was that the guy i spoke to (steve) was helpful and knowledgable. He quoted $1000 for all four shocks or $1400 including front springs (all GTi6 items).
Standard is $650 all round (not including springs). Sounds quiet good.

Part 2: Is this a good idea, replacing the setup with an all GTi6 setup or just change the dampers and keep my eibach spings? I'm guessing that the gti dampers would be better matched to the lower springs/torson bar settings than standard ones?

They may...but how much??? I found it hard in the past to get a clear answer as to what Koni's to put in. What would you reccomend?

The other reason I thought stick with Pug parts are that Ive heard they are well made anyway and have better ride/handling characteristics than the koni's which are just "hard"?

I'd happily put koni's in though if they are genuinly better.

if you are after comfort+performance then you can't go past the pug items

if you are after just performance then konis are the go but you will get the hard ride with them

it's pretty hard to beat a good set of pug shocks

i wouldn't run anything else in a newer pug

ahhh...that was my gut feel..ride/handling..stay pug or flat out handling - Koni's.

Would there be any other changes to be made to fit GTi6 dampers to replace standard 306 ones? Bushes? Sway bars?

I'm guessing that I'd be happy just putting in new GTi6 dampers or just go back to standard!
I cant remember if it was much more comfy before it was lowered or not. It definatley dosnt bug me at the moment.
