Default S16 Rattle from under the Hood

The S16 is in the wars again.

Just recently ive noticed quite a loud rattle from under the bonnet somewhere. I believe its from lower down and thought i had traced it to the thrust bearing in the clutch. The rattle only occurs when I accelerate and gets faster in time with the acceleration.when i put the clutch in and slightly rev the engine, the noise still occurs which leads me to think its not the thrust bearing.

    Any thoughts would be great?

    cheers

I think he is referring to the baffles in the Catalytic convertor, however these have not been known to be as much trouble with the S16's, just the GTI6's.

So is the vibration proportional to the egine or road speed? Engine speed, I'd be looking at engine mounts, road speed, I'd be looking at wheel bearings, CV joints, drive shafts etc.

Yeah its definately engine speed, when i put the clutch in and rev the engine, the rattling increases. Ill check that too.

i have a dead resonator in the GTi-6 that rattles as the revs rise

i also have a clicking noise which we have found to be the mount for the exhaust

these will be fixed when i get the resonator replaced

the Mi-16 i had also had a rattle as the revs rose as well and that was fixed by fixing the mounts for the manifold
