    Default Injector Cleaning

I had some injectors cleaned today for an Mi16 engine I'm rebuildng. The process includes before and after flow tests, ultrasonic cleaning, back flushing, new filters, o-rings etc. Highly recommended for any EFI car that's done more than 100 000 Km. These injectors had done 145 000.

Purely out of curiosity, would replacing the injector nipples/nozzles be better??

I got my injector nipples replaced and the engine is so much happier, but perhaps all I needed was an injector clean??

    Cheers

Sure it wasn't the pintles (or 'pintels' on Peter's receipt)?

and then there is ultrasonic cleaning where you dont really need to replace anything. It buzzes all the gunk out ?

So has anyone had this done in Melborne who can suggest a place to get it done? I know alpine affair does it, but they cost $145, and id prefer not to pay that much if i dont have to...

    Thanks, Maca

can't have been the pintels as the entire job cost $800. That included glow plugs as well. The nipples were very expensive though.

Auto Paris just got a cleaner and did mine as a test. I also ran some cleaner through the fuel and I drove to Wodonga early this week. I am getting around 1000 Kms to the tank in my Mi16. I want to believe the fuel gauge but with a different cam I am incined to be thinking wishfully. Either way hasn't cost me as much since the clean.

I had some done at B & M Fuel Systems in Albert St. Richmond. About 25 to 30 each - removed from the car by me.
It fixed a rough cold idle one one car.

thats about what it cost me to get mine done about 30 bucks an injector .you have to take them off yourself or get a mechanic to do it.
they ultrasonicly clean them out then put new ends and adjust spray pattern.mine was hunting the idle all the time and generally not settling on idle.it fixed it right up.also dont run your tank low to help em keep clean.[that is if the pump takes it from the bottom and is not the floating type]im not sure whre my mechanic sent them to get done.-BAZZ

yeah they cost me about $25 an injector when i remove them and take them in to be cleaned makes car run heaps better do it every 150 000km/h but if you only want to do it this often it is VERY important to change the fuel filter (new ones) every 40 000km this is what helps the most.

That injector cleaner only helps and you have to keep buying it and using it,it is 5h!t. waste of money.

Do it properly replace the fuel filters as ur meant to in the services.

Cleaned and tested the injectors on the Alpine myself on a friends' machine today. Tested without cleaning, all had good spray pattern and within 4% of each other, worst to best on a pulsed test.

I then ultrasonically cleaned them, back flushed, and tested them again to find they were all exactly the same in flow and that they had improved by approx 10%. I was impressed!!

had my injectors ultrasonically cleaned, three out of four we're pretty blocked.
made a huge difference, my engines idling normal again! feels 100% smoother now too! seems to have got rid of the K-light error I was getting also.

I guess I should get a new fuel filter now aswell...
