    hi bazz,

just like a coke bottle cap - its a twister.

or you can do what those chiks do in that "legally blonde" film.... you bend.... then snap! .

Should this be in the Peugeot forum?

Turn it a little bit and pull up, hard..the g/knob is located on a spline not a thread, hope that helps.

This has come up before, the general consensus is to grab your knob firmly and pull hard

Take that anyway you like, however I tried to remove the gear knob in the 405 but had no success, Yes I did grab the gear knob.

I wouldn't reccomend pulling your gear knob off, because it jambs onto a jagged stalk, then after you remove it, it won't go back on very well. It will be loose.

I found out the hard way because I was bored in traffic and pulled it off, then had to buy a new one. They only cost about $20 for a genuine one with the correct shift pattern on top. So it's not a huge drama anyway.

I replaced my gear knob a few weeks ago, as it was starting to chip and peel away around the shift-pattern diagram.

    Pulling+twisting did it for me.

I got my knob from City Peugeot. About $20. They come with different shift patterns so check what yours is before ordering.
