I am hoping someone here may have a collection of shims that i may be able to purchase the one i need.

also the GHEY Haynes manual states the tolerences of the cam to bucket clearance to be

    inlet 0.15-0.25mm
    exhaust 0.35-0.45mm

Now does any one have the exact specs, I miners well do it properly the first time.

also the head bolt torque and got a exact figure as i dont like 120 degrees crap.

    ok some pictures time

as u go see corosion was a problem, it's be welded, new exhaust guides, a decent clean and bead blast.

Looks familiar, this is my later model head that i reco'd and put on my Bx.
I have a few spare shims here if you run out of luck, however whenever i needed them it only took a call or two for peugeot to source some.
Those specs are right, just aim for .2 and .4 and as long as you end up with something within .15 and .25 for inlet and .35 and .45 for exhaust it will do.
Also you must follow the tightening sequence - all the stages followed by the number of degrees, it is a must, depending on the type of bolt you buy, there is a different method for the original vs later style bolts, both are in the haynes.

I've got heaps of shims. Tell me what you need. What I haven't got I can make, then we'll work out a price. Inlets as per book, but I don't go bigger than 0.016" on the exhaust.

How far out are you? Are you using a reground cam?

so far i am only out on two shims, i will mearuse them today when i get back from shopping. every thing else seems to be ok.

only only thing left to do is get a broken bolt removed from the thermo stat housing, and then work out where the hell everything goes.

the cam, is a stock cam, nothing done to it.

the head had mojor work done the the valves, all seats and valves reground.
so it has thrown some of the sims out.

    here follows is what i have measured;

    I wouldn't worry about #2. It's boarderline.
#3 is an inlet and should have a new shim size of 3.16
#6 is an inlet and should have a shim of 3.09
#8 is an exhaust and should have a shim of 2.99

    Please recheck.

If I'm correct, perhaps you could move some of them around. ie the 3.00 currently in #6 can go in #8. Then all you need is 3.09 and a 3.16. I've got both of those sizes. $5 each.
