    Default Noid light ?

    Hi
In time past I had a DIY LED-light tester to check for electric driver pulses for injectors or coils. While searching for some information on this I found what seem to be now called Noid lights (or lites ?). What does noid stand for ??

Noid lights are readily available, in sets to suit various brand connectors. They are plugged into the harness sockets and observed to see if they flash when cranking (or running) to confirm a signal pulse is there.

It tests solenoids. of which the injector is a specialised type.

After many, many pages of searching it would appear that the even people that use them regularly don't know!

Best non technical explanation is as follows: NOID: An evil wizard in a skin-tight red body suit with rabbit-like ears. Goes out of his way to wreck pizzas to be delivered.

    Non-Operating Injector Director perhaps ???

One more serios suggestion I found was short for solenoid.

It could easily have been a tool for the removal of Adenoids!

Or it could be associated with any of the words on this list: paranoid. humanoid. retinoid. sphenoid. hominoid. resinoid. echinoid.

Not exactly cut and dried! The question is whether it is in fact an acronym, or typical US language laziness?
