Icon4 Need help identifying EBC brake pads! 205 or 206?

    Hello!

I purchased a set of EBC yellow stuff pads that were listed as REAR GTI 180.

I'm pretty sure they are EBC part no: DP4458/2R

I've been told by my local mechanic that they believe the pads are a FRONT set for 205's
I'm in the dark as I was under the impression that part number DP4458/2R are indeed 180 rear pads.

The way I see it there are two possible reasons for my current situation, the first being that I was sent the wrong pads.
Second option being I have the wrong EBC part number for a rear set of stock GTI 180 pads, either way, I need the assistance of the collective Aussie Frogs 205 community to help me identify the pads I currently have but are unable to use. hopefully the image below works.

I don’t have any to compare this second, but they look like 206 rears to me.

No they are sort of twisted one way like the 205s if the break material is more than 8mm they are 100% 205

Could be early 205, but I thought they where symmetrical. I'd take them back anyway. They're rubbish pads.

The material is atleast 10mm thick to the eye.

And they are not symmetrical in design so it looks like they are indeed for a 205.

    What makes them rubbish Peter?
Are you speaking generally or 205 specific?

It's impossible to do everything well. You need to work out what you really want them for and buy accordingly. eg Endless and Project Mu make far better pads.

I would have to agree that IMO EBC pads are rubbish....had some greens on a WRX years ago and they had no bite at all either cold or hot.....and my recent purchase, a Lancia Delta Integrale 16V had the EBC yellows which I replaced with Ferodo DS which feel way superior.
As said above there are many good pads depending on your requirements...street, track, both, race, rally.
Start with Bendix Ultimate, then Ferodo DS, Endless , Project Mu and Pagid of course

One of my all time favourites from seeing them at Rally Oz in Perth. Nice, and cheers.

    Same shape as Bendix DB1182
Front pads for 205 April 87-1994, some 405's
Both models depending on caliper type (2 types fitted to both models)
